August 8th topic: Top 5 Buzzword that make me WANT to read a book

Ugly Cry

I must be a masochist but a good cry is cleansing. I love being submerged in emotions so completely that I forget the world. After a tear jerker read I feel exhausted yet more balanced. I think this is my own therapy. An outlet to the day to day frustrations. I often sport the panda look and it’s slightly embarrassing in public transportations. You want a good cry? Try these :

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tilie Cole

Full Tilt by Emma Scott

Kickass Heroine

I can’t stand weak or doormat heroines. Being badass does not always mean kicking behinds or having amazing fighting skills. It can mean being smart and strong. Making up for a lack of physical strength with witts and intelligence. Like:

Celaena Sardothien

Emma Carstairs

Kestrel

Starr

Broken heroes

I love flawed heroes. The one that have either been rejected, maybe seen as monsters or who are differents. I think like many women I want to be the one to heal them and make them whole.
Broken heroes:

Archer

Grayson

Finch

Twists and turns, unexpected plot

I love being surprised. Be it in a mystery with a killer I never guesses or about a story that was so different from what I thought. Books filled with twists and turns but not loosing the reader or being far fetched.

Mysteries: One of Us Is Lying or Nerve Damage.

Appearances are deceiving: Black Lies

Convoluted but brilliant plots: Blood Bound series and Nine Minutes series.

Childhood romance

I love the idea of finding your true love when you’re a kid. What you were waiting for was just under your nose.
Childhood love stories:

The Boy Who Sneaks in my Mindow Bedroom

The Mason List

A Thousand Boy Kisses again

The Sweet Gum Tree.

  2. Great meme! I agree with you, especially childhood romance. I wasn’t really a child when I met my husband but I was 18 when we met, 19 when we married and we’ve been married for 22 years! I love a good childhood romance…

  4. Unexpected and unconventional plots are my kryptonite too. Black Lies is a prime example. If I hear someone say that you need to go in blind, then I’m one-clicking that book, end of story!
