Hello dear friends,
This is my third Sunday Post. This weekly event is hosted by Kimberly at Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This is a chance to recap the previous week and announce anything for the upcoming week. Have som chit-chat with you anything really.
I experience these Sunday Posts as a time to sip a nice cup of tea (or coffee) and talk with you about everything life and bookish related.
Life related first
The kids have been on holiday the whole week and one went to a school party.
Honestly I had a bad feeling and that’s the first time it happened with one out of the house while having a slumber party. I was right to feel concerned as it turned out that said party had alcohol (that I expected) but some drugs as well (chicha if some of you know what it is and blunt). Many kids were sick no surprise there.
I’m proud to say that mine did not drink nor smoked anything. For years now I’ve talked about anything with them be it sex or alcohol and drugs. I’m not the one to hide things and pretend it does not exist. I’ve been honest and blunt with them saying”Here are the dangers but once you’ll be with your friends I won’t be there. I trust you to make the right decision as it will be up to you but you’ll bear the consequences of your actions.”
It seems that I must have made something right as both have their head on their shoulders. Pfew!
Some beer or alcohol while in company is all right of course! Enjoy life already but drugs and binge drinking are serious threats to their health.
I know I won’t be able to keep them in a golden cage. I firmly believe that the goal of every parent is to give enough tools to his kids to have them leave the house fully armed and ready to take the world. Yet we tremble for them…
I’ve been preparing my trip to London next weekend as I’ll go meet many of my favorite romance authors at RARE London! I’ll have a planned hiatus from the blog and you won’t have a Sunday Post next Sunday. I’ll be carrying my precious books to have them signed and kiss authors I’ve got to know for years now.
What happened on the blog this week?
I’ve read and reviewed three books and a fourth is yet to come today.
In Harmony by Emma Scott was a fantastic contemporary YA read. You can find my review HERE.
This Heart of Mine by C.C. Hunter : read in one sitting. My first contemporary C.C. Hunter (I’ve read all her PNR books from Shadow Fallls) and I loved it! Review HERE
The Smallest Part by Amy Harmon an emotional and intense story of friendship. I wrote: “Once again Amy portrayed ordinary persons that could be your neighbors in an extraordinary light. She does not write about superheroes saving the world in epic ways. She writes about small people being quietly extraordinary. In a lifelong silent, constant and discreet support.” Read my review HERE.
It’s been a really good reading week except for my fourth read (mini review to come later today).
The daily event “All About Love” has ended this Thursday with my daughter’s post. Yes Mini Me alias Julie has posted a love letter to her big brother.
I want to give a huge thanks to all the bloggers and authors that helped make this event an incredible story.
On Februray 12th you had Angy @Collectors of Book Boyfriend talking about YA love: post HERE
On February 13th Talia @RedHotInk gave us a deeply moving talk about her grandparents love: post HERE
On Valentine’s Day Amy Harmon author extraordinaire explained why she wrote romance: post HERE
And you can find Julie’s post HERE.
I also had the huge fortune to interview C.C. Hunter! I was really over the moon and she gave me a fantsatic gift going deep into her life and her writing. Find her interview HERE.
This week I’d like to support Marie @Drizzleandhurricanbooks.
She is always commenting everywhere (I don’t know how she is doing it!) and writes really interesting book discussions. She is kind, smart and funny. As you can see her weekly discussion was how you should support book bloggers.
Find this post HERE.
I love discovering on all your blogs links to other blog posts you found interesting. Don’t stop please as it gives me the opportunity to get to know other bloggers and follow them.
Last thing for today’s post: a quote.
Recently we learned that we avoided a really serious drama thanks to someone opening up about his concerns, angsts and fears. I won’t say more about it. A dear author who’s become my friend sent this quote:
In the extended and full version it says:
“Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.”
So for all of you who suffer under the weight of a secret or angst or… this is for you. And for all of you who might one day listen to someone unburden his soul be kind and supportive. It can really save a life.
Happy Sunday everyone!
I’m now going to like and comment on all your posts 😉
Thanks for reading.
