My month in books May 2017

May has been another incredibly busy and exciting month as a blogger. I tried but failed to post every day due to work and beta reading. I love doing beta reads but it’s very time consuming and I can’t do it more than 3 to 4 times a year. Add to my “regular” job, two kids, a husband, a dog and you get why I’ve been very busy! It’s also been an exceptional month for giveaways as I’ve hosted two giveaways on my blog and FB page plus another one just on Facebook. I know it’s been a very expensive month but I wanted to share my love of books with others!

I’ve also been incredibly blessed as two authors I love and admire played the interview game with me! My many thanks to Alessandra Torre and Erin Watt!
I also took part in the Calendar Girl monthly event and will begin in June The Comment Challenge.
I want to thank you all for inspiring me each day. You give me ideas and energy. I love reading your comments so just keep going!

Here is my month in reviews

YA: Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves ->

Gorgeous cover! This is probably my fav for this month but …Verdict: this book has its perks and does not lack assets but I still feel a tad disappointed. Maybe I had too high expectations? Don’t misunderstand me I certainly enjoyed my read but I just didn’t adore it. I feel there’s room for improvement. Hence the four stars. 4 stars

YA: When It’s real by Erin Watt ->

It’s been a really good read! I could not stop reading! Whatever the reasons everything worked really good for me. So good I nearly forgot to feed the family. The hungry cries of my kids stomachs reminded me that there still was a world outside of When It’s Real! If you want YA with a hot singer and a “girl next door” romance this is a very good one! 4,5 stars!

NA: The Boy Next Door by Ella James ->

I loved this one so much that I ended organizing a giveaway with three winners! It was about childhood sweethearts and second chance romance. I’m a hopelessly romantic and love childhood sweethearts stories. All first love and fate and… I read it in one sitting. 4,5 stars!

Midnight Lily by Mia Sheridan->

It was intense, it was gorgeous, vibrant and at the same time had a dream-like quality. It was achingly beautiful. I don’t have enough words to describe all the feelings this book made me experience. I’m awed by the audacity of Mia, for choosing to make us “see” these characters. 6 stars!

YA: The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski ->

This book is the second in The Winner’s trilogy. War, spying maids, conspiracies, starcrossed lovers… it has everything to please even the harsher reader. It’s been a 5 stars!

YA: The Winner’s Kiss by Marie Rutkoski ->

Some truths about this book and its author:
-Marie Rutkoski is The Wicked Witch of the West;
-Arin is the spiritual child of the God of Death;
-Kestrel’s mind is her best weapon and her worst enemy;
-Roshar is a cocky jackass but a true friend;
-You’ll be ready to graduate Westpoint Academy summa cum laude by the end of the story;
-Do not intend to do anything constructive or productive while reading this story.
The whole series has been a faultless 5 stars! I can’t recommend this trilogy enough.

YA When It’s Real by Erin Watt –>

It’s been some time now since I’ve read a book in one sitting but that’s what happened here.
Maybe this story is imperfect and I know the trope has been used and abused (hot singer falling for the girl next door after a fake relationship has been staged by his PR team) but it just worked for me.

YA: The Rose and the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh ->

For several hours, I was enthralled by this tale and couldn’t simply put down this book. I was living in the desert, flying in the sky, trying to control magic and willing to do everything in my power to lift the curse of my true love and be able to live in my kingdom alongside the boy king with tiger eyes. 5 stars!

YA: All the Glory by Elle Casey ->

If you want a very well written YA book with just the right balance of humor and drama, this is a very good one. 5 stars.
Adult: Moonshot by Alessandra Torre ->

Very good! Angsty, frustrating, I was on pins and needles!

Adult: Black Lies by Alessandra Torre ->

Brilliant, diabolical! I have no words left…

Sweet romance: Grayson Vow by Mia Sheridan ->

Grayson’s vow has been an incredible read, full of emotions, fun, wonder and tears.

YA The Queen and The Cure by Amy Harmon: –>

Amy did it again. Take me hostage in her world and kept me captive till the very last word.

YA Win Some Lose Some by Shay Savage ->

That book made me snicker and giggle so hard people in my doctor’s waiting room must think I am the freak by now!
I can’t resist sharing some gems with you. Just enjoy!

YA Moon Chosen by P.C. Cast ->

If you loved the House of Night series I just know you’ll love this one too. My only complaint? I have to wait months to know what will happen next!

Now aside all these fantastic reads, I’ve also been incredibly lucky with author’s interviews.
Alessandra Torre: queen of romance either twisted or sassy! ->
Erin Watt: fantastic tandem in YA romance novels! ->
