Christmas at Sophie’s home: nursing dog, encouraging students and entertaining the in law. The Sunday Post 12/29/2019

Hi friends,

This is the last Sunday post of a decade!!!!!! As usual I am linking back to Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer who has so far hosted more than 400 Sunday posts! She is kickass!

In my privatle life

First thing first: MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you!

How was your Christmas? Quiet? Eventful?

Mine was spent at work during the day and hosting for mt family, mom and mother in law in the evening.

First time that I ordered the Christmas meal but with me working and everyone except the grans becoming a vegan, I had no idea how I would make something festive! It was delicious and light, added bonus for our bodies.

My dog had a surgery on 23rd with his broken ligaments. He has now some metal plate in his leg and we had to administrate so many medicine a day she looked like a very old lady taking all her daily pills…

Here is what she looks like: just like a chicken with her shaved leg!

The other pic is her this morning feeling better but still wanting to be left alone most of the time. She even ended up inside my bathroom cupboard lying upon the plush towels!!!!! She’s never done that but I guess she loves close spaces and a roof upon her head. Must be reassuring.

My daughter came back for one week but as she has to study for her partials in January, we avoided making noise most of the time.

It was also taking care of her, reassuring her etc.

On Christmas Eve when the family was reunited we played games after the meal and I swear my mom is so clumsy and clueless that we had a hoot! It was good laughing all together.

The rest of the week has been calm with me installing an electronic device under my car’s hood in the hope of deterring the “Terrible Weasel” to eat my cables for a fourth time…

Now it’s time to prepare for the New Year’s Eve and once again I have no clue what to cook! The other years, pre vegetarian meals, I had plenty of ideas but now …. so if one of you is vegan and wants to suggest something without too much fat (I have a liver condition) be my guest!

I told you that I would take it easy in the future as I need to slow down. I am tired and I did….kind of. I mean, no Top 5 Tuesday because Shanah is taking a break and no Thursday discussion because I don’t have ideas right now. Instead of forcing my tired brain to produce something I chose to rest it and wait for when it will be ready to work again!

I reviewed two books this week but I wrote two more reviews that will be published next week for one and in April for the second one.

Dark Tempest by Annette Marie is the second book in the Red Winter series that we buddy read with Jen @starcrossedbookblog and Raven @dreamyaddiction and it was as good as the first book!

My second review was for Crooked Kingdom that was an amazing audiobook but …my heart was broken! I don’t know if I must love of hate Leigh Bardugo!

Now the Blogmas is still going strong! If you want to read about my 2019 favorites, take a peek!

On the blogosphere and literary world

Here is a “super power” generator by Epic Reads! I am a anti-hero with teleportation! Should be interesting LOL

And for blog hopping The Books Nest has written such a fun post where one letter change in the book title gives a whome different story! 😀

That’s it! How was your week? I know that now I will blog hop and reply to all the comments I’ve missed!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Oh I’m so sorry for your little doggy. I hope she is feeling a billion times better and that the healing process is quick and not painful *Hugs*! And playing games with family is so much fun, we do the same thing.

  2. Aww I hope your dog feels better soon!

  3. I hope things are going well with your poor dog and preparing for a vegan meal. My brother just went vegan but I don’t know other than no animal products. We are gluten-free but I am not living without butter.!

    Happy New Year!

Happy New year to you too Anne!

  4. One of the reasons why I quit being vegan is because I never knew what to cook. Good luck finding something that everyone will like. Aww, poor dog. I hope she heals quickly and all her hair grows back. Have a great week!

  5. Poor doggy!!! Hopefully she is feeling better soon. Glad you had an enjoyable holiday with family. Vegan is rough. I seriously would have no idea how to prepare a meal for that (and I’m gluten free so I know a little about it)

  8. Sounds like you had a fun holiday overall, even if you did have to creep around and try not to disturb your daughter. 🙂 Your poor little pup does kind of look like he has a chicken leg! LOL! I hope he heals soon!

Thank you Nicole! And her new nickname from my kids is chicken LOL

  9. Oh wow, looks like the holidays has been interesting, to say the least! Ahah ours has been as boring as usual; working, not one soul more than myself and my parents.. drinks/open presents at midnight/go to bed on the 24th aaand it’s basically done! The 25th had the turkey but otherwise was a pretty regular day.

Oof — it should be quite another level to think of meals when everyone is vegan but you and the grandparents .. I would probably say F it and go with tofu turkey/ham

Poor pupper, wishing her a speed recovery ❤️❤️
My female is the WORST with pills.. ‍♀️ While with Kafei you can just plop it in most times under 2minutes, Sheik will fight for her life — a 18lbs dachshund who did me a MASSIVE bruise last year right under my chin as I needed to give them deworming pills… Thought it would be a good idea to lay myself with her on our backs so mom could just.. drop in the mouth and gravity would help.. NOPE! She headbutted me with all her strength 😐 I use thoses pill pockets now ahaha – I’m NOT fighting with her. She may be smoll but hell can she headbutt xd

Kristina I have to crush them to powder and then mask it through some meat to have her take them!!!

  10. Isn’t that weird? The decade’s almost over!!! Glad you had a nice Christmas even if you did have to work (yuck). I don’t think anyone should have to work on Christmas. Of course no one asked me haha.

Hope your doggie’s feeling better poor thing!

Hope you have a great New Year’s! :):)

  15. Sophie, were you actually working on Christmas Day? If so, what is it you do that you have to work on Christmas? (You might have said before but maybe I’ve forgotten.) Your poor little dog… she looks so pitiful in the second pic. I’ve been having a lot of fun with the Blogmas posts! 🙂

And thank you for participating Tanya!!! I loved reading all your posts!

  16. Your poor fur baby! I hope she feels better quickly!

Me too Kim! But she is resourceful 😉

  17. Merry Christmas to you <3 Your poor little dog 🙁 I wish I lived closer to you. I used to make snuggle sack dog beds and sell them. Little dogs like yours love to climb inside as it is very snuggly and reassuring. I'd bring her one of my late Boo's sacks. He too loved to burrow and snuggle into things. I hope she feels better fast.
