And last but not least, a giveaway (scroll down)
My chosen heroine is Nina Zenik from Six of Crows but also King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo.
Nina is a Heartrender and a Grisha. She is using her magic to heal others but can also play havoc on any organ you possess.
From Wiki fandom you can read that:
“Nina Zenik is a Heartrender from Ravka who joined the Dregs. She worked at the House of the White Rose and used her Grisha power in her services there until Kaz Brekker asked her to join him in his quest to break into the Ice Court. She is the only known Corpsewitch
Nina has long, curly brown hair and green eyes. She is tall and curvaceous, described as looking like a “generously carved figurehead’. She wears a red and gold robe with a black waist tie and gold trim. She also sometimes wears a blue jacket. Her beauty and her charm almost caused her to become a courtesan when she first arrived at Ketterdam, but Kaz sent Inej to offer her a place with the Dregs, instead.”

What Nina certainly is : she is smart, kind, strong.
In King of Scars we will learn more about her childhood and my heart broke! She is an orphan and was bullied when she was a little kid raised in an orphanage.
She will go through hell in Six of Crows to save her friends. And that’s something that I love about Nina: she is courageous, loyal, selfless. I love her humor. The way she is flirting. Her smart. Her selflessness. Her courage. Her dedication.
In Crooked Kingdom, she is suffering from the Jorda Parem. She is resisting but she has no appetite and her power has changed. She begged her beloved Matthias to give her more but he’s resisted.
In that one Nina will be the one who will suffer so much! Her burden will be enormous.
She also has an amazing humor and she was the one who made me laugh so hard in the books! Especially when she ruffled big, strong gorgeous and very serious Matthias’s feathers! 😀
“It’s not natural for women to fight.”
“It’s not natural for someone to be as stupid as he is tall, and yet there you stand.”
I loved her love story with Matthias and I swear that I HATE what Leigh bardugo did to them. If she could pull a trick from her author’s hat to reverse things I’d be ready to send her Belgian chocolate all the way to the US!
I also strongly dislike the path Leigh Bardugo seems to send Nina to in King of Scars. Diversity be damned I just want Matthias!
“Oh, I see. I’m the wicked Grisha seductress. I have beguiled you with my Grisha wiles!”
She poked him in the chest.
“No. I’m beguiling you.”
I also forgot to say that Nina loves eating! And she has a big fondness for waffles. If I had to invite her for tea I know that I would prepare waffles.
“I am grateful you’re alive”, he said. “I am grateful that you’re beside me. I am grateful that you’re eating.”
She rested her head on his shoulder.
“You’re better than waffles, Matthias Helvar.”
A small smile curled the Fjerdan’s lips.
“Let’s not say things we don’t mean, my love.”
I love Nina so much that I made a funko in her image, holding a human heart.
Now do tell me: have you met Nina and do you love her? If you don’t love her I am afraid we can’t be friend anymore!
