October Wrap-Up : so many things on the blog this month! And my week of making candles : The Sunday Post 11/03/2019

Hi friends!

I will combine today’s Sunday Post with the monthly wrap-up and link back as usual with The Sunday Post hosted by the charming Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer

In my private life last week

Well first I hope you’ll forgive me but I have been sometimes MIA in the blogosphere this week because:

1) I visited my cousins on Monday and it was months since we did not gossip so it took us a looooong time to catch up;

2) On Tuesday I had dinner with a friend and we went to the theater right after;

3) On Wednesday and Thursday I made my candles (see below for some pictures);

4) On Friday I went with my mom on my father’s tomb;

And in between I had to read and review 4 ARCs!!!!! Needless to say that I had little time to blog hop! Sorry sorry!

And last night I’ve been up the whole night as my 20 years old of a kid was vomitting and everything else when you have the stomach flu! They may be young adults they still need their mom when they are sick!

So yes, stomach flu and cemetery aside I had a busy but very great week and skipped my blogger’s duty!

If you want to see my latest creations in candle land ….here they are 😀

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

Book wise I have reviewed 9 books, 3 of them being audiobooks! You can find them from lower rating to maximum reading pleasure!

Audiobook review: Stronger than a Bronze Dragon by Mary Fan was an okay read with 3,5 stars.

The Living Canvas by Pepper Winters was the conclusion to The Body Painter duology . 4,5 stars.

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater was book 3 in The Raven Boy series and a 4,5 stars.

Audiobook review: The Lost Vintage by Ann Mah was an historical fiction in the WWII Burgundy region narrated by the talented Saskia Maarleveld. 4,5 stars.

Perfectly Adequate by Jewel E. Ann was a smart and funny romcom with the female MC being Asperger with my favorite character name of all time (Miss Lemon Fresh aside): Dorothy Mayhem! 4,5 stars.

The Burning Shadow by Jennifer L Armentrout was even better than the first book in this series! 4,5 stars.

The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater was the last book in the Raven Boys series and a resounding 5 stars!

Now, my two winners this month were:

Audiobook review: The Huntress by Kate Quinn. Simply mesmerizing with Saskia being once again the brilliant narrator for this historical fiction! 5 stars.

Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo knocked me off my socks and made me entre Leigh’s bandwagon! Diabolical! 6 stars!

Post wise this month has been filled with my Thursday discussions but also fun posts like :

Recommending books based on your favorite Fall activity:

Posting about #ownvoices books and hosting a blog tour with a giveaway. By the way my choice was obsviously the best 😀 and was Birthday by Meredith Russo.

And we loved The Beautiful by Renée Ahdieh so much Julia @acourtofwordsandpages and I that we wrote two fanfic posts this week!

One about two possible beginnings for the sequel and the second about my theories about the plot for the sequel based on the clues left in the book! Not many read the post but that’s not  a problem because we had so much fun doing it! 😀

And last week Top 5 Tuesday was about Spooky books!

This week on the blogosphere and in the literary world

First quizz but I am afraid not for Greg this time (or maybe well?): Which Raven Boy is your soulmate? I got Gansey!!!

And a second quizz for these not interested about finding your Raven Boy Soulmate: How well do you remember the Gone series?

And some very interesting posts this week:

The Orang Outang Librarian talks about terrifying tropes and writing styles:

No Read is too great talks about villains to root for!

Lashaan wonders how objective we are in our reviews:

Mandy gives precious advices to survive a book festival when you attend solo:

  17. Your candles are amazing! Stomach bugs are the worst! But, you’re the best mom for being there as the kid vommed. I can’t be around the smell. It makes me vomit.

    You’ve had a busy week! You never stop being a mom, right? I’m at my daughter’s house, sick, but everyone is sick so I still end up taking care of them. I’m trying to rest today. Happy reading, Sophie. 🙂

    1. BewareOfTheReader says: Reply

      Exactly Rachel! We never stop being moms! I hope everyone will get better from your end too!

  22. You had quite the week. HOW in the heck do you work, take care of a family and do all that? I’m in awe! Wow, I love the new candles. Especially Dragon. How pretty with the glitter. I got Pepper Winters duet but haven’t read it yet. So looking forward to doing so. Same with Perfectly Adequate. That is coming up soon too in my TBR.

    I’ve read 22 books in the last month. The 5-star highlights were: Another Sky by Jayne Frost, Sacred Heart by AM Johnson, the ARC of Landon & Shay by Brittainy C Cherry, the ARC of Stud Muffin by Jiffy Kate and the ARC of No Whisk No Reward by new author Ellie Kay.
