Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s theme is the last ten books we read but I chose ten 2021 favorites so far with a quote.
“The first words Ellis wrote to the woods were “Please come back.” She was nine years old, sitting on the bank of the river in the Wild Wood.”_The Light THrough the Leaves by Glendy Vanderah
“There is no good and evil, no light and dark, no man or woman. Every one of us contains multitudes. Every one of us contains a spark of God.” _ The Light of the Midnight Star by Rena Rossner
“Well, you know what they say,” said James. “All the best men are either married or Silent Brothers.”
“You’re safe here,” he told me as he placed the dagger beside my hand. “But just in case, if anyone comes in here, stab first and ask questions later. You should be familiar with that mentality.”_The Crown of Gilded Bones by Jennifer L Armentrout
“Having a sister, mom says, is a place only the two of them will share, made of secrets they never have to say aloud – but if they did, it would be in a language only the two of them could speak. Having a sister is a promise no one but the two of you can make – and no one but the two of you can break.”
“I didn’t want to be a star. Maybe that was what won people over. I didn’t have dreams of Hollywood or Broadway. I wasn’t in love with my own voice or my reflection in the mirror. My dreams were of a humbler variety. I wanted to make music, not mayhem.” The Songbook of Benny Lament, Amy Harmon
“Ian Fleming from the Admiralty (known as the Phlegm among the many BP females he has backed into a corner) is a classic case in point: damp hands, gin fumes, slinks about like something out of a cheap spy novel.”
Never again would she be weak.
Never again would she be at someone’s mercy.
Never again would she fail.
Never again, never again, never again.”
“If I don’t murder you this afternoon, it’ll be a gift sent directly from God Himself, and I vow to attend services again,” I said, holding a hand against my heart.
“I knew I’d get you to church eventually.”
“Your soul sings to mine. My soul is yours, and it always will be, in any world. No matter what happens.”_Daughter of Smoke and Bones by Laini Taylor
